July 2008: Liza talks about Wedding InsuranceWedding insurance. Why would I need it and what does it cover?Personally, I think we are all way over insured. We are terrified not to pay for insurance so we just pay and complain. But what about when something really does happen? That is when we pull out that policy with great relief. You can rest assured that any professional you have hired carries liability insurance to cover themselves. But what if the checks have all been mailed, the agreements have been signed and there happens to be a hurricane or some other disaster and the wedding has to be postponed? That’s when the concept of wedding insurance comes into play. Is the added security worth another bite out of your budget? Generally speaking, wedding insurance will protect your investment from circumstances beyond your control, and reimburse you for any expenses that are incurred. There is even a policy that claims to cover you if you or your fiancée get “cold feet.” A basic policy could run you anywhere from $200 to $800 – but one should also consider what is the price for peace of mind? To buy, or not to buy is your personal choice, but as with any important investment in your life, now or in the future, you should do your research before making a final decision. Here are some wedding insurance policy websites. Just remember to do your homework (see what is already covered by your caterer, facility, vendors, etc.) before you buy, and read all the small print before signing. Here are some sites that I'm suggesting you review: Cheers! I want to hear from you! Do you have any wedding stories, questions or comments about old or future events?
